DIY Bunny Basket and Wooden Eggs

Easter is almost here! I’ve been trying my best to complete the Easter DIY Challenge, and embellish a basket and color eggs still have not been checked off. The eggs have been traveling around my house, thanks to Elia, for a couple of weeks, and I found an adorable apple basket at Michael’s yesterday. Today, I decided to get crafty. I used items I had on hand to finish these projects. It all turned out adorable! You definitely have time to finish these up before Sunday. You can catch a sneaky toddler trying to mess me up at every turn in the videos, but we made it through and got our finished projects. YAY! Only have to finish the fresh flowers arrangement to complete the challenge. Yippee!!!

Let’s start with the basket. I found several ideas on Pinterest for apple baskets, and one was an idea to turn the basket into a bunny. I thought this would be so cute to carry my treats Sunday. I didn’t want to buy additional supplies, so I used what I had on hand. Here’s a quick supply list.

• Apple basket (mine is from Michael’s $3)
• White paint & brush (I used chalk paint from a previous project)
• Pink paint/marker for nose
• Sharpie for eyes
• Felt for floppy ears
• Bow (optional)
• Hot glue gun

First, I painted the basket with the white chalk paint. While it was drying, I cut the ears out of felt. Fold felt sheet in half (hot dog style) then cut out ear shape. I just did this free handed. You can draw them if you’d like. Folding in half gives you two matching ears. Once the white paint dried, I added the pink nose and mouth. Followed by the eyes and lashes with a sharpie. Finally, I hot-glued the ears to the top inside of the basket and glued the bow on the front. Finished! It turned out super cute. I love the floppy ears too!

• Wooden eggs
• Painter’s tape (I used washi tape which worked great)
• Paint
• Rubber stamps
• Stamp ink

I didn’t want the eggs to be a solid color, and I thought it would be cute to have some wood still showing. I used washi tape as my painter’s tape. After the tape was pressed down and bubble free (almost), I painted the eggs. Once they were dry, I removed the tape from the eggs and stamped the letters on them. There are lots of different ways to decorate the wooden eggs, but I think these turned out fantastic.
